For those of you who don't exist on Facebook, or rarely check it.
This friday = dinner at Buca on Citywalk at 7:30, then Iron Man 2 at the IMAX at 9:30 (need a headcount for reservations)
This saturday = Darach Anny, then a party at The Mrowse 2.0 at about 8:00 in SB.
The birthday boy commands it. Or I will cry.
You may now consider yourself guilt tripped.
*fades back into the murk, not to post on LJ for another 6 months*

So I've done my researching on the Interwebz, and I am satisfied that
A) The series finale of Battlestar Galactica will be on Friday, March 20th.
B) No, this indeed does not conflict with the weekend of King's Hunt (or any other event we'd be concerned with)
So, that being said, I (and more importantly, my 60-inch TV) invite you to a BSG finale party on the evening of the 20th. According to the schedule, Sci Fi channel will be marathoning season 4 all day long, the Finale Special will start at 7:00, and the actual finale will start at 9:00. I normally get home from work around 6:15, but I can probably manage to leave an hour or so early.
Feel free to bring munchies, or drinks, or just yourselves. Crash space is available, but limited. That is all.

Far more amused than I should be. Motherboard/processor that I needed to test, a Dell motherboard with its stupid Dell proprietary shit that none of our normal power switch connectors will connect to. Solution? Turn the computer on by shorting the pins on the motherboard with a pair of pliers. Win. Current Mood: amused

So I never got around to making a Thanksgiving post about Cambria last year. And since this is the last year that the gathering was being held, I guess I'd better do that.
Long story short, friends of Allesy's family own a 2nd house in the beach-vacation town of Cambria, a couple of hours north from SB. Every Thanksgiving for like the last 10 years, they've invited some of their friends to come to a large gathering for the holiday weekend, and they rent out 4 or 5 other vacation homes in the immediate vacinity to provide lodging for said invited guests. AKA: totally fucking amazing and awesome of them.
I was lucky enough to spend the long weekend disconnected from most aspects of worrying about life, etc.
And now, without further ado, ( The PicturesCollapse )
Its a bummer that there won't be another gathering thrown next year. But with the economy going to shit the way it is, the Hutchingsons made the (quite reasonable) decision that they can't afford to host it anymore. All in all, I am greatful to them, and count myself as very lucky to have been a part of it for the last two Thanksgivings.

Dude! I just filled up the gas tank on my big Heavy Cruiser of a truck for like $43. I remember in the not-so-distant past when I would hit the $75 gas station max on my credit card, and not get a full tank out of it. At least something good has come out of this economic meltdown that we're all in, right?

Heh. New model of Intel motherboard, comes with built in support for RAID arrays. The package includes a floppy disk that contains the required drivers to allow the Windows XP installation program to recognize that there's a RAID array installed.... and the motherboard does not have a floppy controller to allow a floppy disk drive to be connected to it.

Psssst! If I spammed you with a Knighthood recruitment thingy on Facebook, go install the application. Even if you don't want to play, or are going to immediately unintall it again, that's cool, it doesn't matter. If I sucessfully recruit you and you install it, it makes me more powerful in fighting against all the other Knights that play it. Kthxbye <3 :) Current Mood: amused

So, here's your new mission. http://www.defendthetowers.com/vectortd.html
Choose any of the three Extreme Mode maps, and then report how far you've managed to get. So far, I get clobbered before even clearing lvl 6... after beating the game on all of the normal maps...
EDIT: Made it to lvl 28 on The Frog before I got pwned.

Bah. I was hoping it wouldn't happen, while knowing it would. The LJ spammers have found my LJ. As such, it is now going Friends-Only. I know there's a couple of you who read this thing but don't have an LJ yourselves. Yes, you Nick. You slacker. You'll just have to make a LJ and friend me. Current Mood: tired

Did I loan a DVD of Hatari to someone? I could have sworn that I actually owned that movie, but now I can't find it.
Darach Anny was fun, if rather..... warm. I made it to the seventh round of the tourney, which was much better than I was expecting to do. So that's shiny by me. And Jean makes amazing cake of doom. And Hunny makes amazing Veal of doom too :)
